Since viral fame in 2020, Matt Dunkle, the man behind 'SLAM Dunkle the musical-cyclist', has led an introspective life.

This collection of original song lyrics and photos offers a kaleidoscope of intimate and vulnerable insight into what happened before, during and after the Halloween 'Headless-Horseman-on-a-bike' spectacle.

Dunkle opens up equally about self-doubt and self-empowerment in a hybrid of childlike rhyme and battle-hardened rap.

In 'Black Lung', one of many cloaked self-portraits, a coal-miner's son reaches the pinnacle of success in the jazz-clubs of New York, only to be doomed to swinging a Pennsylvania-pick-axe after facing crippling PTSD, addiction, and heavy psychiatric treatment. You will be immersed in Matt's story with a grandiosity that only SLAM could create.

Riding Out Loud is a wild story of 'anonymous celebrity'.What is it like to have to tell people you are famous? How does a rebel feel when faced with the consequences of his defiance? When do you pick up your severed head, put it back on, screw it in place, and find peace with an adverse and disturbing reality? Can gratitude ever emerge from the embers of all the bridges you burned?

You'll laugh out loud at 'One of the Better Blues', with lines like "fluffernutter flows outta' your nose as we play chubby bunny". You'll cry out loud in the heartfelt 'Breakfast with Smokey' where the shadow-self is explored through a short lived kinship with a brilliant fencing instructor.

Where words may fail to express, the photography will leave no doubt that SLAM Dunkle, the jazz trumpeter turned flute makeris an oddball innovator willing to live and die for your attention.

You say my hand’s

the same size as my heart,

if I gotta use my fists

just show me where to start!”
